us: "I'd like to introduce the band.... we're a tribute to play school... on drums we have little ted, I'm big ted, on keyboards we have jemima, and on bass....... "
them: "show us your growler"
them: "I've never heard a band make so many mistakes..."
them: "that was the best version I've heard of touched by the hand of god since 1987.... by ANY band"
highlight: apart from the dress, all the highlights were off-stage
notes: and so to 2009.... a great turn out witnessed the usual exploitation of the traditional shambolic new order live experience. although, nobody ever believed that gillian was actually a bloke in drag. what a reveal that was. debut for too late, I don't think anybody expected that. we weren't sure either. but it seemed to work. perhaps the worst/hardest 'get-in', soundcheck, stage times and band changeover we've had, but we're grateful for everyone who made it there and cheered for us throughout the smyths set!
a huge thank you to simon for so ably filling the gap and making the rest of us look like we didn't know what was going on!
